The Summer School on Responsible Artificial Intelligence and Human Rights is a joint initiative of Université de Montréal and Mila – Quebec AI Institute. The School is held in person, in Montreal. Its first edition took place from 5 to 9 June 2023.
The programme covers the themes of responsible AI, human rights issues and the legal and ethical frameworks involved. It aims to develop participants’ skills in interdisciplinarity, reflexivity, diplomacy and the ability to put the principles of responsible AI into practice.
The school is aimed at doctoral students and members of the research community at early stages of their careers, as well as decision-makers and industry professionals specialising or with an interest in AI.
The creation of this school follows on from the priorities identified in the Declaration’s latest Activity Report, published in 2022. A new edition of the School is planned for summer 2024.
